Not! 18-1

Half way through the third quarter of Super Bowl XLII the Bill Belichick's bad call came. Why keep Pro-Bowl kicker Gostkowski sidelined for a fourth and 13 from the New York Giant's 32, when the score deep in the third quarter in the deeply contested game was 7-3?  Gostkiwski knew it.  I'm sure Tom Brady knew it.  He took the snap from Dan Koppen and released the pass. Moss knew it and watched Brady's errant pass go over his head and out. Gostkowski still watched from the sideline and the offensive unit remained on the field.

Everyone knew except for Belichick. How could he not know? Was he giving away three points to the Giants because he believed the New England Patriots could never lose?

60% of the U.S. had picked the Patriots. Did he write off the Giants after the Patriots after their 21-12 victory over the San Diego Chargers 2 weeks before? How did he view the NFC? A Junior varsity league with teams who didn't know what the Vince Lombardi trophy was?

Lots of questions.  Maybe that's why Bill Belichick looked so sour as he was being interviewed post game. Did he finally know?
