Over the past five years, the Super Bowl winners of each year were relatively easy to predict. Perhaps this is because they were just the undisputed champions that year, and had some of the best games during the regular season. Or perhaps it was just that in the end the final match up between the conferences showed two teams with a world of differences in both offensive and defensive capabilities.
Super Bowl winners – The Colts, 2007: Peyton Manning was known by all to flop in the playoffs, no matter how good he did during the regular season. When he was matched against New England for the fifth time, he finally came through for his team. There was no question in my mind that they would make easy fixings out of the Bears.
Super Bowl winners – The Steelers, 2006: After a surprising win over the Bengals, albeit from a cheap shot to Palmer that took him out for the game, the Steelers brought their solid defense to the fore against Indy, and showed them that they were made of steel. When matched against a much weaker Seahawks team, it was easy to tell who would be the Super Bowl winners that year.
