Audi of America has announced it has purchased a 60-second slot to advertise in the first quarter of Super Bowl XLIII, despite the tremendous consumer and critical reaction to its "The Godfather"-inspired ad in Super Bowl XLII.

Last year's Super Bowl ad was the company’s first super bowl commercial for nearly 20 years. The spot's unique creative elements scored big points with viewers.

According to Collective Intellect and Nielsen Buzz Metrics, Audi was the number two Super Bowl advertiser in total buzz after the game.

In the months following the game, traffic to the company’s website had increased almost 200% and the Audi R8 became the top search term on Google immediately following the super bowl ad's airing.

"Last year's Super Bowl ad put old luxury on notice that Audi was setting the new standard in the American luxury market," said Scott Keogh, chief marketing officer, Audi of America. "With this spot, we plan to build on the success we've enjoyed in 2008 to make 2009 a year of progress and market momentum for the Audi brand."

Audi experienced a record year for sales in 2007. In 2008, despite the worst sales climate in nearly 25 years, Audi has increased market share against other imported luxury brands to 8.6%, up from 6.2% just 12 months ago.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform in the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLIII Halftime Show.

The Super Bowl halftime show is annually the most-watched musical performance. More than 148 million viewers in the U.S. watched last year's show. This season's Super Bowl is set to be played in Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Feb. 1. The halftime show will be broadcast worldwide in more than 230 countries and territories.

How can I volunteer for Super Bowl XLIII? The Host Committee estimates that it will need more than 6,000 volunteers to serve in various capacities. These volunteers will be needed in many areas (hospitality, transportation, special events, etc.).  

How do I become a vendor for Super Bowl XLIII? More information on the Emerging Business Program. The Emerging Business Program will offer local vendors the opportunity to attend workshops, obtain certification and may qualify to become a vendor during Super Bowl XLIII.

How do I rent my home for Super Bowl XLIII? Due to the number of hotel rooms in the Tampa Bay market, there are more than enough rooms to accommodate visitors. The Tampa Bay Super Bowl Host Committee does not play a role in assisting home owners to rent their properties.

How are game tickets distributed? The demand for tickets to Super Bowl XLIII greatly exceeds the NFL's ability to accommodate the majority of fans interested in attending the game. The vast majority of Super Bowl tickets (approximately 75%) are distributed to the 32 NFL teams. The participating teams each receive 17.5% of the tickets, the non-participating teams receive 1.2% and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as the host team, will receive 5%. The remaining 25.2% are controlled by the NFL and are distributed primarily to NFL affiliated companies, the broadcast network, corporate sponsors, media, VIP's charities, fans and the Host Committee.

Are tickets sold to the general public? The NFL distributes approximately 1% of the tickets to fans through an annual Super Bowl random drawing. The drawing is not considered a lottery (there is no charge to enter). This is the NFL's only method of distributing tickets to the general public. The NFL does not sell tickets to travel or ticket agents.

Super Bowl XLII was #1 game in TV history with 97.5 million viewers. The Giants-Patriots game's actual rating (43.2 rating, 65 share) was the highest for any Super Bowl since 2000. That means 43% of the nation's households with TV were tuned in to the game, and 65% of the TV sets that were turned on were watching football.

The Steelers’ over/under total for wins in 2008 is set for 9 by the oddsmakers.  It is clear that they think Pittsburgh will win more than 9 games considering the over pays out of –140 compared to +110 for the under.

Who can ever forget New York Giant's David Tyree's the one-handed catch of a pass against his helmet and the game-winning touchdown against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII!  It was announced Thursday that Tyree has been placed on the physically unable to perform list by the Giants because of continuing problems recuperating from surgery on his right knee.

It is amazing that Tyree only had 4 catches during he regular season for 35 yards.  In the playoff run to the Super Bowl he had 4 catches for 47 yards, including the unforgettable 32-yard reception of an Eli Manning pass after escaping a Patriots rush.

The Giants had to put the 6 year veteran on the injured list before the 1st practice in training camp as a precaution for putting him on PUP during the regular season.  If that does happen, he will have to miss the first 6 weeks of the season and would be eligible to return to practice any time between weeks 7-9. The team would have 21 days from his return to practice to activate, waive or place him on a season-ending injured reserve. He can however come off the injured list any time during training camp.

• You may want to even consider a ticket broker in order to get a hold of those Super Bowl tickets
